Well, it’s pretty obvious isn’t it?

I sow way more than I sew…period.

In January 2011, I made my first attempt at starting a blog. At the time I was very involved with helping my husband with the embroidery leg of our sporting goods store, Levy’s Source for Sports.

The name came to me while brainstorming and it seemed a perfect fit since I was busy sewing jersey’s and embroidering hats at the time. However…. last February I decided to apply at a garden nursery for spring and was hired on the spot, but not for my background as a horticulturist….instead I was hired as the lead decorator.

As fate would have it, this particular nursery is Western Canada’s Biggest Christmas store for 6 months of the year.

As I became deeply involved with all the intense planning and creating required to get this mammoth task done, my interest in sewing took a back seat and although I still help my husband with the business, it isn’t what inspires me to create everyday. Diva themed tree’s and custom made wreaths have taken over and I’ve been launched into a new career path.

Gardening however is still my passion.  If you’ve been following me, you can see from my posts….

I talk a lot about dirt.

Since I am always creating, the other side of me is constantly coming up with crafty idea’s…the other 50% of my blogging.

As time went on it became harder and harder to just sit down and sew…..anything.

threads

Besides the obvious reasons as stated above, the thing that struck me the most was how I felt my name was misleading to those searching for a sew project and finding my site….only to see a couple of posts in that category.

There are some fabulous sewing blogs out there,

I am not one of them…

and unfortunately, I don’t see myself finding any time in the future to develop that area in my busy life. I think I’ll leave the sewing to the girls that do it well and stick to what I DO know best.

I read a tip for writers that you should always

write about what you know

…..I know plants, gardening, projects and Do-it-myself’s.

My name will be Sow and Dipity from now on.

It’s a good thyme to do it because when I officially launched this site last October, I went from 45 hits/month to over 22,000 hits/month in just 6 months! If I don’t do it now, it’ll only get harder to do later.

I will keep my old URL while I create a new and improved site over the next couple of months, just in time for me to share my holiday decorating tips!

Phew….I feel better already. That name needed changing!

…..and SOW it is.
