Written by Shelley Levis

Garden Junk-Man Style Junk gar·den /jəNGk/ noun. trash – rubbish – refuse – lumber /ˈgärdn/ noun. A piece of ground, often near a house, used for growing flowers, fruit, or vegetables. ( as per Google definition search result ) Apparently dictionaries have not caught up to this term as I was unable to find it without searching for the words separately. But it’s a thing…. let me tella’ you! Got Junk? Everybody is doing it…. but it isn’t something new. Junk gardening has been going on for a long long time, it’s just cool now, thanks to Pinterest. Click on my Junkin’ Garden board if you’d like to check it out: So, being a frugal gal, I’ve been up-cycling and re-purposing for years and my shenanagins have got me onto the cover of a magazine… and managed to find their way on to the set on CTV news. Visit my friend Tamara’s blog at The Greenhouse Diaries to read about her hilarious experience preparing for her TV appearance! Now, not all my creations are instant hits. Not everyone appreciated my garden girl… ( yeah? well just wait till you see what I do with her this year!! ) and surprisingly, my colorful recycled garden hose dragonflies seemed to fall under the radar. ( I still think these were BRILLIANT ) BUT, that was a year ago…. and it wasn’t cool yet. SO, now that I’ve re-introduced my creations, I’m sure they will get another go around on Pinterest. Here’s a look at some of my Gardening Junk-Man Style: I’m proud to say that almost all my garden junk-man style art and planters have been featured on HomeTalk.com. You’ve heard of this site right? I’m completely addicted to HomeTalk!! It’s only the best place to go on the web where you can ask home and garden questions and get answers from real pro’s. You can share your projects and have thousands….I mean thousands… of people admire them or give you helpful advice, instantly! Sign up, follow me there and you’ll never miss any of my quirky projects again… Here’s a few more of my junk works as seen on TV…… Now for a look at the fun things you’ll find at Milner Village Garden Center… So, the lesson in junk gardening is simple….if it can hold soil, it can be planted! Ohhhh sexy planter…..whop….whop, whop….whop Garden Junk-Man Style

The post Garden Junk-Man Style appeared first on Sow & Dipity.

Think Pink! I have a confession…it’s been 2 weeks since my last blog submission. SO much has happened, I don’t even know where to start! Let’s just say that changes in seasons often bring about changes in peoples lives. Just a few short weeks ago I was planning my Christmas themes over at my ‘old’ job and in a blink of an eye…. an opportunity came along that completely put me on a course correction. I’ll be honest and say that it was very hard to walk away from something I felt I poured my heart into. I will miss the fellow Christmas lovers that used to come and see what I was decorating…. in JULY, ha ha….. and the staff that I connected with that I left behind. However, my ‘old’ and my ‘new’ is very similar…. here’s how: Both are garden nurseries Both are located in Langley within 10 minutes of my home Both do Christmas in the fall/winter season And as far as Christmas decorating, that of which I had become well known for at my ‘old’, WELL…. …. I have no need to mourn that because all my themes and idea’s are coming with me and I’m thrilled to be able to share and contribute them to my ‘new’! Let me tell you about Milner Village Garden Centre. It’s this old dairy barn converted into a garden nursery. It’s full of charm, quirky-ness and FLOWERS! The team of pink ladies are friendly, fun and full of helpful advice. Oh and we have one dude, dressed in blue, who get’s to work with all of us lovely girls. Lucky boy Love flowers? Think pink! Our visionary leader over at the garden center is Tamara Jansen of Darvonda nurseries. This massive operation feeds all those amazing planted containers to Costco and Sobey’s across Canada. Who hasn’t plunked a gorgeous pointsettia into your cart while shopping at one of these stores at Christmas? Now you know, it’s grown here in the lower mainland by a local company! I love being apart of a forward thinking team, where we share idea’s and are able to feel like our contribution counts…I mean, I’ve done more high fives in the last couple weeks than I have in years! So, more than just my t-shirt has changed, my entire future looks bright…. in a purdy shade of pink. Peace Love Garden

The post Love Flowers?
