Need to make a button?

A little advice to the newbie bloggers out there looking to create a button of their own…I had a heck of a time trying to make my own button, but here is what I did:

  1. I created my image with Picnik, super easy to use but they are only around until April when then join up with Google+.
  2. Upload your image to a hosting site, like Flicker or Picasa. I actually found this part a bit troublesome (who am I kidding, I just about drop kicked my lap top!). I tried to upload it to Flicker and ran around looking for the URL only to find an incomplete one etc. I looked into Picasa but decided to use Google+ and put it into an album there. I figured since Google+ and Picnik are joining up, I will stick with this method from now on. I also noticed that the image editing on Google+ looked very similar to Picnik, so it just makes sense to keep it all in one place.
  3. Once your image is done, go to this helpful and easy site Grab My Button Code Generator.

You can find your image URL by right clicking on the image in your Google + and clicking on ‘copy image location’. Fill out the required info in the Code Generator and you’ll get a code that you can copy and paste into a text widget for your side bar. It only took me two days to figure this out….hopefully this info makes it much easier for you!
